The mother of the bride has an important role to play not only on the wedding day, but before the wedding day aswell. There are 9 main duties for the mother of the bride:

1. Help to arrange the reception.
2. She can help to choose the bride's and bridesmaids' gowns.
3. Provides input into arranging the seating plan.
4. Chooses her own wedding outfit, while being mindful of any relevant colour themes and style (if this is important to the bride).
5. Participates in all the wedding rehersals.
6. Provides unconditional and loving support to the bride.
7. Helps the bride dress for the big day.
8. Attends the signing of the register.
9. Mingles with all of the guests.
