Children can reduce cost if left off guest lists, but remember to phone all the parents and tell them why they are being left off to avoid offence. Make sure this rule applies to everyone.
Work colleagues aren’t automatic invites to your wedding, don’t be afraid to talk about the wedding with them and perhaps explain your tight budget. They will understand.
Don’t feel obliged to include ‘and guest’ on a wedding invitation to single pals, but it can be a nice gesture to out of town guests or if you are sure they will know absolutely no one at the wedding.
As the day comes closer you will think of more and more people you really ‘should’ invite, don’t be tempted to stray from your own rules. Be strict as this can be a slippery slope aswell as an expensive one. Remember if you can have a separate celebration for the people you’d love to share this occasion with but your budget tells you otherwise, try to hold an alternate party in the evening or upon arrival from your honeymoon.
10% is a usual decline rate for invitations, but do not rely on it. If you have a higher decline rate than usual for some reason, then invite some from the B list to make up for this but remember to be tactful when doing so.
